Most Chimney Companies Are Sweep Companies
Nothing wrong with sweeping — creosote removal is real, useful work. But sweep companies make their money on volume: quick appointments, annual contracts, maintenance plans. Structural repair is slow, skilled, messy work that doesn't fit a volume model. So when a sweep company finds structural damage, you typically get one of two outcomes: a referral elsewhere, or a patch job from a crew whose real expertise is cleaning.
We're Built Backwards From That
We do one thing: fix chimneys structurally. Rebuilds, relining, repointing, crowns, flashing, waterproofing. No cleaning routes, no maintenance plans, no upsell from a $150 sweep visit to a $15,000 rebuild you may not need. When your problem is structural, you want the company whose entire business is structural work.
What This Means for You
- Diagnosis without a sales agenda. We're not looking for problems to justify a maintenance contract. If your chimney is fine, we'll say so.
- Repair vs. rebuild, honestly. A volume business leans toward whatever's fastest. We evaluate structurally — our framework is published here — because our reputation is the repair holding.
- No sweep upsell. If your chimney needs sweeping before we work on it, we'll tell you and recommend someone. We won't sell it to you.
When You Actually Need a Sweep
If you burn regularly and it's been a year or more, get the chimney swept — by a sweep company. Then call us if the sweep finds structural issues, or if you're already seeing the signs: bad mortar, spalling brick, water entry, liner problems. That's our territory.
Send the form when the problem is structural. That's what we're here for.
